In 1452, Johannes Gutenberg designed the first printing press specifically for the purpose of a distributed medium. For the first time it was possible to widely distribute the exact copy of the printing template: The Holy Bible, also called the Gutenberg Bible. In April 2011, for the very first time, it was possible to widely distribute the exact copy of a blockchain-based database with unique key/value pairs, while the blockchain with its miners are the printing press:
